S1100QL (& S1300QL) are relatively new steels on the market that can conceivably be classed as "Ultra High Yield Structural Steels" boasting a minimum tensile strength of 1100 MPa and 1300 MPa respectively.
The material is quenched and tempered and is relatively easy to bend and weld but its the strength and wear resistance which makes this steel a highly sort after and marketable item.

Lighter & Stronger Steel
These new steels have only hit the market recently but are already being used and specified in the heavy lifting industry. This industry has an ongoing requirement for stronger and lighter structural sections which are used in the manufacture of crane booms.
